A Christchurch school has reassured parents following a teacher’s involvement in an X-rated video.
As first reported by Chris Lynch Media the video shows a teacher in a sexually explicit act.
The video, which appears to have been screen-recorded, has been shared by parents and pupils of the school.
The identity of the person who screen-recorded the video remains unclear.
However, the school principal emailed parents on Saturday.
“The Board of Trustees have been informed of a matter relating to a member of staff which we are currently working through.”
“We know that there is some discussion in parts of the community, including the sharing of a video. We wanted to acknowledge this in case you became aware of concerns, or were unsure if we knew about the matter” the principal said.
“We can confirm that at this early stage, we are seeking to understand the facts and next steps.’
“In order to work through the processes appropriately we are seeking advice from the New Zealand School Trustees Association (NZSTA) and liaising with other organisations including the Ministry of Education” the principal said.
”Given the nature of this matter, we ask that the video is not shared further and any records are deleted.”
”While we know that you may have questions, particularly if you are not aware of the matter that we are referring to, we hope that you trust that we work very hard to meet the expectations of our community and the Ministry of Education” the principal said.
”Due to privacy constraints and the need to work through a robust process, we are unable to provide more information at this time. However, we trust this communication, along with ensuring we are seeking appropriate advice, reassures you that we take all matters seriously.”
The principal said” student support team continues to be available throughout the holidays for any issues or concerns that students may have.”
