A woman has been arrested at The Warehouse in South City this afternoon for refusing to wear a mask.

A video of the arrest has been shared on social media and shows a woman yelling at police officers.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch a 43-year-old woman was taken into custody shortly before 3pm.

She received formal warnings for resisting police, trespass and failing to comply with a direction/prohibition/restriction (COVID-19).

Three police officers attended the scene.

The New Zealand government requires all customers entering stores to wear a mask.

The Warehouse says on its website “If you do not wear a mask and can not prove you have an exemption you will not be able to enter.”
