A stolen car smashed into a Phillipstown house in Christchurch, metres from where the occupant was in his bedroom.
A police spokeswoman said shortly before 10am Saturday, police observed a car with stolen plates at a petrol station in Waltham.
The car failed to stop when signalled to do so by police.
It was later located crashed at the intersection of Harrow Street and Bordesley Street.
The driver had collided with a fence and shed at a residential address.
Police located the offending driver a short time later.
A 45-year-old man faces numerous charges and will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday
