A man described by police as extremely dangerous reportedly took a domestic flight out of Christchurch the same day of a shooting police say he’s connected to.
Hendrix Rawiri Jury, 27, is wanted in connection with the shooting in central Christchurch on August 30th.
His mug shot was released several days after the incident.
The victim was taken to hospital in a serious condition and has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
In a post made on Twitter this evening, former Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters questioned how the man could escape Christchurch on a flight.
He also posted photos of the alleged wanted man.
In a statement released by police it said they now believe that Jury is in the Hawke’s Bay area.
However police said “he is extremely transient and has contacts across the country.
It is possible he could be in the Bay of Plenty or other parts of the North Island.”
“We have a number of Police staff making enquiries into his whereabouts and are following a positive lines of enquiry.”
“We remind the public that Jury is considered to be dangerous and should not be approached. If you see him or know where he is, then please call 111 immediately.”
“Anyone with information which may be relevant to Police can also call us on 105, quoting file number 220830/8157.”
Information can also be reported anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
