Two people have been seriously injured in a crash in Christchurch overnight.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch emergency services were alerted to a two-car crash at the intersection of Colombo and Brougham Streets at 12:45am.

She said one person was reportedly trapped.

Two people were taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The serious Crash Unit did not attend the crash.
