The Sumner Redcliffs Anglican Church is hoping CCTV footage might identify those responsible for stealing their guttering over the weekend.
The thieves stole guttering off the chapel and youth hall on Nayland Street some time on either Saturday or Sunday.
Vicar Harry Lokolong told Chris Lynch Media “it was a bit of a pain.”
He said “someone climbed up and nicked some of our guttering while also breaking our downpipes and leaving them behind.
He said “they can’t have been the sharpest tools in the shed as the guttering wasn’t copper so it had no real value.
“In the grand scheme of things, it isn’t a big issue.
“In my last parish we had the foodbank cleared out during one of the Covid lockdowns, so this pales in comparison.
“However, it is inconvenient and will cost a little bit to replace.
