Teenagers have ram-raided a store in Rangiora overnight causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

Police are investigating an attempted ram raid at a store on Percival Street at 4.10am today.

The offenders reportedly did not gain entry to the store and nothing was taken.

The vehicle used, which was stolen, was left at the scene.

Two males were seen leaving the scene on foot.

Owner Shailes Patel told Chris Lynch he checked the security video this morning and it looked like a “few kids aged between 14 and 16.”

“They banged their car into my shop, but it got stuck on a pole outside, and they couldn’t move it, so they panicked and they ran away.

Patel said he has to replace the whole door of his shop, and it will cost up to six thousand dollars.

“It’s a bloody hassle, having to now deal with insurance, and my shop is closed so the builder can do repairs, it’s not fair.”

Police is asking for anyone with information which could help them identify these two males to contact them via 105 and quote file number 220609/1194.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
