Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on the South Island’s West Coast.

The two-vehicle crash was reported to police just after 6.15pm on SH7, Arnold Valley in the Grey District.

Police say serious injuries have been reported and the road is closed in both directions.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area as there will be significant delays.

NZTA said the road remains closed near Arnold River Bridge.
