Queenstown Airport has reopened following this morning’s bomb scare.

Police were called to the airport after receiving a report at around 8.40am of “what appears to be an explosive device.”

A police spokesperson said the airport terminal was evacuated as a safety precaution.

An airport spokesperson said “the security incident at Queenstown Airport has now been resolved.

“The New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron attended and deemed the reported items posed no threat.

“We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding.

“If you have a confirmed flight reservation, please come to the airport. If you have been impacted and do not have a confirmed booking, please contact your airline.”
