Power has been cut to at least 350 houses in Christchurch’s eastern suburbs.

Lines company Orion said the power went out just before 8pm.

Streets affected include Betty Place, Breezes Road, Carters Road, Doreen Street, Esk Place, Leonie Place, Marlow Road, Marshland Road, Merrington Crescent, Pages Road, Rosanna Place, Rowan Avenue, Rowses Road, Shortland Street, Tomrich Street.

The cause of the fault is still under investigation but the company hopes to have power restored by 10.30pm.
