Police have named the man whose body was found at a Gilberthorpes Road house in Hei Hei on Tuesday.

He was 33-year-old Rikiana Hirawani, a resident of the address.

Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Baillie said following a post-mortem examination, the death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner.

“Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the death of Rikiana Hirawani.

Cordons around the property will be removed this afternoon, when the scene examination has been completed. 

Baillie said police wanted to thank the community of Gilberthorpes Road for their understanding and assistance while police carried out an extensive scene examination and made enquiries in the area.

“Police extend our condolences to his family.”
