Christchurch police are investigating two smash-and-grabs in Christchurch.
In the first incident, a police spokeswoman said there was an attempted break-in at a store on Main South Road, in Hornby at 11.10pm.
She said the offenders were unable to gain entry and left in a vehicle.
In the second incident, police responded to a break-in at the Spark retail shop at the Palms Shopping Centre shortly after midnight.
“It’s not clear at this stage that a vehicle was used to gain entry, or if anything was taken.
The offenders fled in a car when a fog cannon activated.”
Inquiries into both incidents are underway, including whether there is any connection.
