A person has been seriously injured and two others moderately in a crash on Christchurch’s Summit Road.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services responded to a single vehicle crash on Summit Road in Sumner around 11:30pm last night.

The vehicle flipped upside down and ended up in a ditch.

Fire and Emergency crews were called to rescue the person, who was trapped in the vehicle.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said they responded with two ambulances and two rapid response units.

There were five patients assessed at the scene, with three patients transported to Christchurch Hospital.
