Anti-Chinese Communist Party Leaflets have been delivered to a Christchurch suburb.
A Christchurch resident, who didn’t want to be named, said she was surprised the leaflet ended up in her letterbox in Hillsborough.
Her neighbour received the same pamphlet.
On the front cover, it reads “END CCP” ELIMINATE THE DEMON CCP (Chinese Communist Party)
The Christchurch resident, who was born in China, and had lived in New Zealand for 28 years wondered if the letterbox drop was targeted.
“The material in the leaflet isn’t offensive at all, but I do feel a little uneasy about its tone.”
“I worry this sort of thing stokes anti-immigration sentiment.”
Its contents reads “this pandemic could have been prevented if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) did not lie. Yet, ever since it took over China, hundreds of millions of people have been suffering from its endless deceptions and brutality.”
It said “the demon CCP has plundered the ancient land of China, and now its terror has spread globally, affecting everyone. It is time for all of us to reject its evil work and put an end to the Chinese Communist Party.”
The organisation’s service address reads 40-46 Main Street, Suite 201 Flushing, New York.
The National President of the New Zealand China Friendship Society Dave Bromwich said “the aim to ‘’eliminate the demon CCP’ shows complete ignorance of what the CCP has done for its people since becoming government and the ‘lies’ about the pandemic in China compared to those Western countries and especially the USA that leads the world into mismanagement.”
Mr Bromwich said “those who have no appreciation of Chinese history, society and culture will no doubt be drawn by the catch phrases in the leaflet, but perhaps it may encourage some to look beyond the extreme negativity especially in the light of fake news exposed in the USA.”
Mr Bromwich said his views did not necessarily represent the views of the NZCFS..
