A beloved Christchurch café has recently closed its doors, sparking a wave of supportive messages from its devoted clientele.
Steviez Café, located on Kennedys Bush Road, announced that its final day of operation would be on Thursday.
Renowned in Halswell for its extensive menu and hearty portions, the café had earned a substantial following.
On Facebook, owner affectionary known as ‘Bob’ said “it’s always sad to see a beloved establishment close its doors, and it’s with a heavy heart that we announce that today marks the final day of Steviez’s operation.
“As our lease comes to an end, we have made the difficult decision not to renew for various reasons. We want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our loyal customers who have supported us throughout the years.
“Your patronage has meant the world to us, and we’ve cherished the memories created within these walls.
“While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we hope to see you again in the future, whether it’s in another setting or under different circumstances. Until then, we bid you farewell with a deep sense of appreciation and nostalgia. Thank you for being a part of the Steviez cafe family. It’s been an incredible journey, and we are now signing off.”
Resident Katrina Brady paid tribute to Bob saying “you have brought a community together over coffee and food. I will feel sad passing the shop and knowing you are no longer there. You have done Halswell proud.”
Councillor for Halswell, Andrei Moore wrote “Thank you for your very warm and welcoming hospitality over the years.”
