Two people have been taken into custody following a series of driving offences in Christchurch.
A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch Media at around 4.45pm yesterday, police were called after two vehicles were sighted driving recklessly in a carpark off Chalmers Street, Hornby.
Shortly after, police received reports of the vehicles driving dangerously on Lincoln Road, Addington.
Police lost observations of the vehicles until they were sighted by a patrol unit in Rangiora at around 12.30am this morning.
Officers deployed road spikes and successfully spiked both vehicles.
“Given the dangerous manner of driving, the vehicles were pursued at low speed until they came to a stop on Idris Road.”
The two drivers were subsequently taken into custody and both vehicles were confirmed as stolen.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and charges are being considered.
