Former President Donald Trump revealed details about an assassination attempt during an historic conversation with Elon Musk.

Trump recounted the experience, describing how he was struck by a bullet near his ear. “I didn’t know I had that much blood,” Trump said, explaining that doctors informed him the ear is particularly bloody if injured. Despite the circumstances, Trump believed the ear wound was the “best alternative” given the situation.

Trump recalled the chaos following the shot. “I knew immediately that it was a bullet. I also heard people shout, ‘Bullets, bullets, you know, get down. Get down.’ I moved down pretty quickly, and bullets were flying right over my head after I went down. So I’m glad I did,” Trump shared. He credited his survival to the angle at which the bullet struck, noting that any other angle could have been far more destructive.

Trump mentioned the loss of Corey, a firefighter and Trump supporter, during the incident. “As you know, we lost somebody great—Corey, who was a firefighter, a great gentleman, a great Trumper,” Trump said. “He was a fantastic family man and a fantastic man.”

Trump then shared a gesture of generosity from a friend. “A friend of mine came up and said, ‘I’d like to give the family some help.’ And I said, ‘That’s great.’ He asked, ‘Do you mind?’ I said, ‘I don’t mind at all,’” Trump recounted. His friend subsequently wrote a check for a million dollars and gave it to Corey’s widow. According to Trump, she responded by saying, “This is really nice, but I’d rather have my husband back.”

Trump added, “They wanted to put me on a stretcher, but I didn’t like that idea. I knew I was hit in the ear and nowhere else.

“They thought I was injured somewhere else because there was so much blood. They were convinced I had been hit in more places. They kept saying, ‘Sir, you were hit in more places.’ But I insisted, ‘Nope, it was just the ear.’ I wanted to get up, so I did. The crowd was confused; they didn’t know what to think. It was important for me to show them I was okay. When I stood up, they went wild. At first, they didn’t react because they weren’t sure if I was even alive. But when I raised my fist, they were relieved, happy, and thrilled. The place went crazy. It was pretty amazing.”
