Three shallow earthquakes were felt by thousands of Christchurch residents on Saturday.
The first quake, at 10:20 AM, was measured by GeoNet at a magnitude of 3.4 and occurred at a depth of just 4 km. It was centered southwest of Christchurch.
The second tremor was recorded at 5:45 PM with a magnitude of 3.5, also at a shallow depth of 4 km and near the same location as the first.
The third quake struck at 6:09 PM, registering a magnitude of 3.0 and the same depth of 4 km, 10 km southwest of Christchurch.
Geonet said the quake at 5.45PM was widely felt with 4348 reporting quake on the website.
There was no reported damage.
