Youths responsible for ram raids in Papanui and Woolston have posted videos of their crimes and even bragged about their acts online – but they still have not been arrested.

Alex Vape Specialist store on Main North Road was raided at 5AM on Friday, while a stolen vehicle was used to smash into Vape Nation on Ferry Road on Tuesday morning.

At least two vehicles were used in both raids.

Chris Lynch Media has viewed videos of both raids, which were posted to social media.

The offenders bragged about their crimes in the comment section saying they did it for money.

One social media user praised the criminals saying “keep up the good work boys, proud is an understatement.”

The footage also captures a glimpse of police with flashing lights in pursuit of the offenders.

A member of the public provided the name of one of the offenders to Chris Lynch Media.

However, police issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon saying enquiries into the burglary on Main North Road on 5 May continue.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have information about this incident or those involved.

You can get in touch by calling 105 and referencing file 230505/4090, or by going online and using the “Update Report” function.”

Police weren’t in a position to provide further details on the Ferry Road incident.

A Christchurch business owner familiar with both cases said “the lack of action from the authorities has left many residents outraged and fearful, as these reckless criminals continue to roam free.”
