State Highway 1 near Greta Valley is blocked following a three-vehicle crash this afternoon.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the crash between Scargill Valley Road and Motunau Beach Road at around 4.20PM.
One person is reported to have critical injuries.
The road is currently blocked, and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and expect delays.
NZTA said SH1 is closed between Mount Cass Road and Leader Road East. A detour is in place. Please follow the detour and allow extra time for your journey.

Detour route
For Northbound traffic use State Highway 7, turn right on to Rotherham Road South, continue on to Lyndon Street, left on to Parnassus Street, continue on to Leader Road West, continue on to Leader Road East, and then left back on to SH1. Reverse for the Southbound traffic.
