A person has been stabbed in central Christchurch tonight.

It’s understood the incident took place around 10PM at a housing complex at the Christchurch City Mission.

Hereford Street has been blocked off by police, from Fitzgerald Ave to Barbadoes Street.

Witnesses said they saw armed police outside the City Mission.

Chris Lynch Media understands a person has been arrested.

Another witness said he could see about 7 police cars, fire and emergency crews and a St John ambulance.
