Three youths in a stolen vehicle were arrested overnight after failing to stop for police.
A spokeswoman said officers signalled for the vehicle to stop on Hills Road around 11:45pm.
A Hills Road resident said police tried to spike the stolen car, which was travelling on the wrong side of the road.
A short time later, it was spiked on Akaroa Street the police spokeswoman said.
Three youths were taken into custody at the scene.
A 14-year-old is due to appear in Christchurch District Court today charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and failing to stop.
