A prompt report from a member of the public resulted in the arrest of two people following an aggravated robbery in St Albans last night.
Christchurch Police Metro Area Prevention Manager Inspector Glenda Barnaby said officers responded to a report around 10:45pm of individuals wearing masks walking down Bishop Street.
The suspects were then seen entering a residential property further along the road, where they forced entry and threatened the occupant with a weapon.
Officers arrived shortly after and arrested the two offenders at the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A young person is set to appear in the Christchurch Youth Court in due course, while a 26-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the Christchurch District Court today on charges of aggravated robbery and being disguised for burglary.
Inspector Barnaby said the incident underscores the importance of reporting suspicious behaviour immediately by calling 111.
“In this case, the public’s quick action enabled police to intervene during the robbery and apprehend those involved.”
