Pams brand Afghan Oat Baked Bars are being recalled due to the potential presence of metal fragments, New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) has confirmed.

The recall affects bars with Batch L5017 and a Best Before date of 16/01/2026, which were sold nationwide at Four Square, Gilmours, New World, Pak’nSave, Social Supermarket, and Trents stores.

Deputy director-general of NZFS Vincent Arbuckle said the metal may have entered the product during the production process.

“If you have any Pams brand Afghan Oat Baked Bars with this batch number and date, don’t eat it. You can return it to the place of purchase for a refund. If that’s not possible, throw it out,” Arbuckle said.

The product has been removed from supermarket shelves and has not been exported. No injuries have been reported so far.

NZFS said it is working with Foodstuffs Own Brands Limited to determine how the contamination occurred and to ensure it does not happen again.
