Canterbury police were kept busy overnight responding to multiple burglaries at commercial premises.

A police spokesman told Chris Lynch Media officers responded to a burglary at a supermarket on Towsill Road, Prebbleton, around 3:22am on Saturday.

A window was smashed using weapons the spokesman said. Nothing was stolen and the offenders quickly left the scene.  

Then at 4.30AM, police responded to a Cranford Street retail premises where a tool was used to gain entry to the premises and items were stolen.

Forty-five minutes later a store connected to a shopping centre on Waimairi Road was broken into and items were stolen, again using a tool to smash the front glass and gain entry.

No one has been arrested and police have not released any descriptions.

Chris Lynch Media understands youths were involved in all of the crimes.

Meanwhile police are still investgating the aggravated robbery of the Mobil service station in St Martins on Sunday morning, where a worker was injured.

The offenders used a hammer as a weapon and left the scene in a car.

It follows the burglary of the Caltex service station on Riccarton Road on Saturday morning.
