Police are investigating a robbery at a convenience store in Papanui.

A police spokesman said the incident took place on Main North Road at 10.40PM on Monday.

Three offenders entered the Night and Day store armed with weapons, though not firearms, and demanded cash.

After taking the money, they quickly fled the scene.

Despite a swift response from police, the suspects had left before officers arrived, the spokesman said.

A scene examination has been completed, and enquiries are ongoing as police are working to identify the individuals involved.

A local resident said the area had a large police presence and police photographers were outside the shop on Tuesday morning.
