A person has been seriously injured in a crash in North Canterbury.

A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com emergency services were called to State Highway One near Pa Road at 3.50 PM following a two-vehicle crash.

A St John spokeswoman said they responded with three ambulances, a rapid response unit, a helicopter, and a manager.

A person was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene but has since reopened.
