Police are still hunting a man thought to be armed following what was initially reported as “family harm” incident in Addington.

Cordons were put in place around a Whiteleigh Avenue property this afternoon following the incident, where a person was injured.

Residents near the Z Service Station on the corner of Barrington Street and Lincoln Road were asked to evacuate by police as a precautionary measure.

A police spokesman said two people from the Whiteleigh Avenue address were assisting police with their enquiries to locate the person of interest who was no longer in the area.

Another person involved in the initial incident was transported to hospital with moderate injuries just after 1PM.

A St John spokesman said they responded with an ambulance, a manager and a rapid response vehicle.

The lockdown at a nearby school was lifted just before 3PM.

“Police acknowledge that this may have been unsettling for the young people whose school went into lockdown and appreciate their support” the spokesman said.

Enquiries remain ongoing to determine what exactly occurred.
