A person has been arrested following a stabbing incident in Burwood.
A police spokesman told Chris Lynch Media they were called to Vivian Street at 3.15PM on Sunday, following reports of an assault.
A St John spokesman said they responded with an ambulance, rapid response unit, and one manager to the scene.
Crews assessed and treated a patient who was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
Detectives were seen entering the property where the assault took place about an hour later after the incident was first reported to police.
Nearby residents said the property was a former “gang house where people were often seen coming and going all the time.”
However, the street was generally quiet and safe they said.
A person was taken into custody and enquiries were ongoing, the police spokesman said.
