A paraglider has been seriously injured in an incident in Sumner.
Emergency services were alerted just before 9pm to reports of a person falling from height while paragliding near Summit Road, a police spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com.
A St John spokesperson said an ambulance, a rapid response unit, an operations manager, and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
The injured person was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital in serious condition.
