New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) is supporting a recall of Pams Tempura Coated Chicken Nuggets due to the possible presence of small pieces of blue rubber.

Consumers who have a 1kg bag of the affected product with a best-before date of 16 October 2025 are advised not to eat them. NZFS deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle said the nuggets should be returned to the place of purchase for a refund or disposed of safely.

The affected products were sold at Four Square, Gilmours, New World, Pak’nSave, and Social Supermarket stores nationwide but have now been removed from shelves. They were not exported.

The issue was identified following a customer complaint, and NZFS has not received reports of related health concerns.

Arbuckle said NZFS would work with Foodstuffs Own Brands to determine how the contamination occurred and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Consumers can visit the NZFS food recall page for more information and images of the affected product. NZFS also encourages the public to subscribe to recall alerts to stay informed about food safety risks.
