A man had his nose broken after allegedly being attacked outside a Christchurch supermarket.

The victim said he was assaulted while heading to his car in the PAK’nSAVE carpark on Moorhouse Avenue on Tuesday night.

A man approached from behind, opened his car door, and punched him “for no reason.”

In an online post, the victim said, “I’m ok now. It was a bit scary, and it could happen to anyone. Just a note to self: lock doors when you hop in your car. You shouldn’t have to, but there’s a lot of bad stuff happening.”

The man said that following the attack, his only thought was to get away from the offender. “I was in shock, so I drove straight to the police station.”

A police spokesman confirmed to Chris Lynch Media that “enquiries were ongoing following a report of an assault on Moorhouse Ave on Tuesday.”

Foodstuffs has been approached for comment.
