Christchurch police have launched an investigation after a man was found with serious injuries at Shirley Homebase last night.
A police spokesperson confirmed emergency services were called to the retail precinct on Marshland Road just after 10.30PM.
“Police are investigating an assault in Shirley overnight.”
Chris Lynch Media understands the man suffered stab wounds, but this has not been confirmed.
A St John spokeswoman said the organisation sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and an operations manager to the scene.
One patient was treated in a serious condition and transported to Christchurch Hospital.
Police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
