A 36-year-old Spreydon man has been arrested after a firearms incident in Christchurch this afternoon.
A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com police were called to an Emmett Street address about 4.40pm today, after reports a man had discharged a shotgun and left the scene in a vehicle.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, the police spokesman said.
A vehicle of interest was located, but the driver fled after seeing Police.
A pursuit was abandoned due to the concerning manner of driving.
Police tracked the man to a Sumner Street property in Spreydon, where cordons were put in place as a precaution.
After being challenged by Police at the address, the man was arrested about 5pm, the police spokesman said.
“This was a fast-moving and we are thankful that no members of the public were harmed.
“Enquiries are in their early stages, and Police will be conducting scene examinations at the Emmett Street and Sumner Street properties.
Charges are being considered.
