A man has been arrested following a single-vehicle crash on Hills Road this afternoon.
A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com that officers responded to reports of a crash involving one car on Hills Road, near Acheson Avenue, around 4:10pm.
The sole occupant was arrested on an unrelated matter and underwent impairment testing.
A witness said the man had a small dog in the car, which was uninjured.
“I pulled him out of the car. He was extremely stressed, so he came over to my place and was put in a dog crate in the car with my oldest dog to help calm him,” the witness said.
“Other than the obvious stress and shock he endured, he was fine and reunited with his owner. He was lucky his owner had him restrained in the car, which prevented him from escaping through the windows after the crash.”
Chris Lynch Media has been sent a photo of the dog, which cannot be published due to the man’s arrest.
“A knife was also found in the vehicle, and police enquiries are ongoing,” the spokesman said.
