A man has been arrested following an alleged robbery at Kiwibank in central Christchurch.
A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com police were called around 10.15am to a Christchurch Central bank after a man reportedly passed a note to a worker demanding cash.
The bank’s security team apprehended the man and held him at the premises until police arrived, at which point he was arrested, the spokesman said.
The 23-year-old man is due to appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow on a charge of robbery.
A Kiwibank spokesman said, “No customers or team members were harmed following an incident involving criminal activity at our Christchurch CBD branch.
“We are offering them support as needed,” he said.
“Customers have been able to access Kiwibank services at nearby branches in Hornby and Papanui.”
