A man has been arrested after a three hour police operation in North Canterbury.
Multiple armed police were called to a residential address in Hawarden after receiving a report of a disorder at the address shortly after 6pm yesterday.
A police spokesman told Chris Lynch Media officers “spent some time talking with the occupants” and a 52-year-old man was taken into custody shortly before 9pm.
He has been charged with obstructing police.
St John Ambulance vehicles were placed on ‘standby’ at Hawarden Domain.
Local Fire and Emergency crews were also required to be on ‘standby’ as police delt with the situation.
There was no threat posed to residents in any of the surrounding properties a police spokesman said.
