The Bridge Hill fire has now spread to approximately 450 hectares and remains uncontained, with efforts continuing to control the blaze.
Ground and aerial resources remain substantial, with nine helicopters, three fixed-wing aircraft, and 12 trucks, tankers, and support vehicles deployed to the scene.
Flock Hill Lodge, previously used as an evacuation point for one of the schools affected by the fire, has also been evacuated as a precaution.
Incident Controller Brian Keown confirmed that no additional evacuations have been required at this stage.
“We’re in contact with other schools who have camps in the area,” said Keown. “Outside of the three schools evacuated from the Environmental Education Centre and Forest Lodge, all other school camps are safe and away from the fire. Parents can be assured that their children are not in danger.”
Authorities have reiterated the need for people to avoid the area. State Highway 73 remains closed between Springfield and Arthur’s Pass.
