Lisa Marie Presley appeared on the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globes, just two days before she died following a cardiac arrest.
In an interview with Extra, the 54-year-old held on to Jerry Schilling — a longtime friend of her late father, Elvis Presley — while being interviewed by Billy Bush.
“I’m gonna grab your arm,” she told Schilling as she wrapped her right arm around his.
The singer praised Austin Butler for such a “spot on” and “authentic” depiction of the King of Rock.
Her Mother Priscilla Presley released a statement to PEOPLE magazine.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.
She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known.
We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.
Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”
Born in 1968, Lisa Marie went on to follow in her father’s footsteps and forged a career in music.
The star released three albums, with her 2003 debut studio album selling hundreds of thousands of copies and receiving positive reviews.
Lisa Marie was well known for a series of high-profile marriages to singer Michael Jackson, actor Nicholas Cage and musicians Danny Keough and Michael Lockwood.
In 2020, Presley’s son Benjamin Keough died at the age of 27.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Keough’s cause of death as suicide.
Nearly five months before her death, Lisa Marie Presley shared exclusively with PEOPLE an essay she wrote about navigating grief following the heartbreaking death of her son.
