A family-friendly festival is set to bring fun, food, and festivities to Hei Hei as Party in the Park returns to Wycola Park on Saturday, March 15, from 12 pm to 3 pm.
Organised by Greater Hornby Residents Association (GHRA), the event promises a lively afternoon packed with activities, including a baking competition, a chocolate wheel, and a ride on the Noddy Train.
Local bakers will showcase their skills in the GHRA Baking Competition, with categories for jams, chutneys, cakes, and slices. Entries can be dropped off for judging between 10:30 am and 11:30 am at the Hei Hei Community Hall/Kitchen before the main event kicks off.
Attendees can also visit the GHRA tent to learn more about local community initiatives and how they can get involved.
A special guest will also be making an appearance—visitors will have the chance to meet an alpaca from Sherlin Alpaca Stud at Hello Hornby, adding an extra touch of fun to the day.
For those looking for even more entertainment, Lavender Fairy Face Painter & Friend will be at Hello Hornby offering free face painting and balloon twisting, ensuring kids can leave with a colourful smile.
Keeping the energy high and the schedule running smoothly, Rob Reid, a talented MC, will be entertaining and informing attendees about what’s happening and when at Hello Hornby throughout the event.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) will also be there, giving attendees the chance to meet local firefighters, check out their fire trucks, and learn more about fire safety.
With prizes donated by local businesses, including Pak’nSave and Anytime Fitness, organisers say the event is a great opportunity for families to enjoy a fun day out while celebrating the Hornby community.
