Firefighters are at the scene of a fire at a forestry block in Oxford.

Fire and Emergency crews were alerted to a fire just before 8.30AM.

“We currently have 8 fire appliances and 1 helicopter on scene. The helicopter has been grounded due to strong winds.”

The fire is contained within the forestry block but is not yet under control.

No structures or properties are under threat.

A spokesperson said with the winds still very strong in parts of Canterbury DO NOT light a fire today and please check on all previous burns that you have had in the last month.

“Please stay away from the area to allow our crews to safely work to extinguish this fire.

We will update if there are any significant changes to this fire.”
