Fire and Emergency crews were called to a water leak at Blenheim hospital overnight.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said a crew from the Blenheim Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to a report of flooding in a building in Blenheim just before 8 PM Friday

A Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand spokesperson said following heavy rain last night, a leak was discovered in the ceiling of a non-clinical area at Wairau Hospital, damaging some ceiling tiles.

Significantly, there was no impact on patient care or ongoing operations.

FENZ were called as a precautionary measure to ensure electrical safety, and the area remains cordoned as maintenance takes place” the spokesperson said.
