A person died following a single-vehicle crash in Balclutha late last night.

Emergency services were called to Gormack Street, between Moir Street and Barnego Road, at around 10.35pm.

The sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit attended, and Gormack Street is expected to remain closed until mid-to-late afternoon while investigations continue.

Police said enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
