The family of Kory-Dean Wirihana says they’re holding onto faith as the search continues for the 36-year-old, who disappeared after checking in for a domestic flight at Auckland Airport.
“Although there have been some new developments, Kory is still a missing person,” a family member said on Sunday morning.
“We’ve seen the comments about possible sightings and want to thank everyone who’s reached out—we’ve reported all of them to the police.”
“We’re staying hopeful. We’re holding onto faith that we’ll have answers soon and that our brother will be home safe.”
Kory was due to travel to Christchurch for a netball tournament on Friday morning.
He checked in and cleared security at the domestic terminal but never boarded the flight.
His phone and luggage were later handed in to lost property at the airport.
A relative said his car was stolen a few weeks ago, leaving him without transport or communication.
He last made contact with family at around 4am on Friday.
Police say they are seriously concerned for his welfare and are asking the public for help.
Kory is described as being of thin build and around 178cm tall. Anyone who sees him is urged to call police on 111 and quote reference number 250418/7495.
Information can also be provided after the fact via the 105 service.
The family also confirmed police had thoroughly reviewed CCTV footage as part of the investigation, which is ongoing.
