An extensive makeover is planned for a Riccarton street, marking a key component of broader improvements across the neighborhood.

Starting next week, the rejuvenation efforts for Bradshaw Terrace are set to extend until the end of May.

Council Transport Planning and Delivery Manager Jacob Bradbury said “Initiated in 2010, the project encountered delays due to the earthquake.

“The local community, having awaited patiently, has been vocal about their desire for this upgrade. We’re excited to finally initiate this as part of our extensive enhancements in Riccarton.”

The refurbishment will encompass comprehensive street revitalisation, featuring an improved dead-end turnaround, new kerb and channel works, the planting of street trees, and the addition of a garden bed.

The project falls under the umbrella of the Christchurch Regeneration Acceleration Facility’s efforts to rejuvenate residential Riccarton.

Additional undertakings include the complete renewal of Brockworth Place’s southern stretch, along with measures to calm traffic and enhance pedestrian safety across numerous local streets.

Plans are underway for a new traffic light-controlled crossing at Waimairi Road near the Bush Inn Centre, and explorations are being made for a pedestrian crossing on Deans Avenue.

Tactile paving stones have been recently placed at all intersections along Riccarton Road between Matipo and Balgay Streets, as well as other high foot traffic locations, to aid those with visual impairments and provide a slip-resistant surface.
