Emergency services are responding to a ‘water-related incident’ in Southshore.
A rescue helicopter has been dispatched to the scene, along with St John ambulance.
A police spokesperson confirmed to chrislynchmedia.com they were also responding to a water related incident.

“Further information will be released when we are in a position to do so,” the spokesperson said.
Nearby witnesses reported seeing the helicopter circling over the Southshore spit.
Another local said police officers were positioned near shag rock.
A Coastguard NZ spokesman said volunteers were onboard two Coastguard Sumner vessels searching for the missing swimmer.
A St John spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com they were notified of this water incident at Southshore at 1507 hour.
“We responded with a helicopter, an ambulance and three rapid response vehicles.”
