Christchurch police are reassuring residents they’ll be investigating disturbing incidents of dangerous driving believed to be linked to a gang funeral.
In one incident, captured on dash cam, seen by a Chris Lynch Media, motorbikes are leading a procession, with one rider travelling in middle of the road, before two vehicles drive on the wrong side of the road on Papanui Road, forcing motorists to take evasive action.
A police spokesperson told our newsroom, police officers will be highly visible as they monitor gang movements through the eastern suburbs of Christchurch for a tangi today.
“Police are aware of a number of driving incidents on Papanui Road today, which will be investigated and followed up with enforcement action.”
“Police has clear expectations around how we expect those involved to behave, particularly during the driving procession.
We will have zero tolerance for driving behaviour that puts other road users at risk.”
The police spokesperson said any unlawful behaviour will be investigated and followed up with enforcement action.
