One person is in a moderate condition in hospital after their vehicle rolled on North Parade, Shirley this afternoon.
Traffic management was in place near The Palms shopping centre as emergency services worked to clear the two-vehicle crash.
An eyewitness told Chris Lynch Media, “One car abandoned and smashed in middle of North Parade near Shirley Intermediate. Another vehicle on its side and smashed into brick fence by [the] old Shirley Boys High gym … Cannot have been conventional accident. Abandoned car a very long way from crashed car with people injured in it.”
A St John spokesperson said two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were in attendance.
“Our ambulance officers treated and transported one patient, in a moderate condition, to Christchurch Hospital,” the spokesperson said.
A police spokesperson said they attended a two-vehicle crash, with diversions in place at Marshland Road.
