ChristchurchNZ is offering what it’s calling the “Coolest Internship in Aotearoa” — a paid, three-week winter content creation role designed to showcase the best of Christchurch and Canterbury during the colder months.
Launching as part of the organisation’s 2025 winter travel campaign, the internship promises a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the region’s top winter experiences — from snow-covered slopes to the buzz of the central city — while creating social media and video content for a national and international audience.
The campaign officially opened for applications at 9am on April 1 and runs until 5pm on April 30.
“This is no joke — we’re looking for someone with a passion for storytelling, a curious mind, and a sense of adventure to help us bring the season to life,” said ChristchurchNZ Head of Visitor Economy Kath Low.
“Ōtautahi Christchurch offers an incredibly diverse range of attractions and experiences for every age and stage. With a walkable city centre, vibrant food scene, and unique bucket list experiences, there’s so much to discover here and we want to tell the country — and the world!”
The selected intern will explore locations such as Mt Hutt and the Selwyn ski region, seaside hot pools, wildlife tours, ziplines, and stargazing hotspots. They’ll also highlight exclusive winter deals and local favourites across the region.
Valued at nearly $30,000, the internship includes a range of perks and partnerships. Outdoor brand MacPac will provide winter clothing, Jucy Rentals will supply transport, and the intern will stay at Drifter Christchurch — a new property already making a name for itself in New Zealand’s hospitality scene.
Josh Hunt, Chief Marketing Officer for Drifter parent company LA Collective, said, “Drifter Christchurch has already become the highest-rated accommodation on every platform in the region and was recently recognised in the New Zealand Hotel Magazine Awards. We’ve redefined the hospitality experience by merging boutique hotel luxury with elevated shared accommodation — all inside one of Christchurch’s most iconic heritage buildings.”
ChristchurchNZ will also launch a broader Winter Deals Campaign aimed at attracting families and couples with discounted accommodation, dining, and adventure packages.
The internship is being hosted exclusively on job platform ZEIL, which allows candidates to submit short video applications showcasing their personality and content skills.
Caitlin Langlands from ZEIL said the job is perfect for someone who loves the outdoors and storytelling.
“Aren’t we lucky to have some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world right here on our doorstep? We’re big believers in balancing your work life with what you love — and this job is perfect for the adventurer in all of us.”
