Four teenagers crashed a stolen car into another vehicle this afternoon flipping the car they were in on its side.
Multiple police units and St John ambulances were called to the crash on Peer Street in Ilam about 1.36pm.
The teenagers tried to overtake two cars at a high speed, but clipped a vehicle, rolling the stolen car a witness said.
Another witness said the car rolled outside New World and two youths were handcuffed with “plenty of emergency vehicles around.”
Witness Nick Shaw two members of the public chased two of the offenders and held them down until police arrived.
“The police dog handler did an amazing job catching the two other teenagers that ran from the scene.”
“They had unopened bottles of spirits in the car.”
A police spokesperson said police attended a single-vehicle crash on Peer Street.
The vehicle, which was reported stolen, contained four occupants, two of whom were taken into custody and two of whom police are still making enquiries to locate.”
